Hi ed001

Vardy has categorically denied being involved in Ranieri's sacking. Is he lying?

{Ed001's Note - it depends on what you mean by being involved. All he has denied was being involved in a team meeting asking the owners to sack him. Which is true, as there was no 'team meeting' to ask the owners to sack him. The owners did meet a number of the players separately though to ask what they thought should be done. That is all I can say on the matter.}

As you in you know more but cannot say, or that's all you know (not to say it wasn't enough for anything!) ?

I have strong suspicions that he was one of the players who said "hmmm yeah I wouldn't be against the idea of sacking him"

{Ed001's Note - I can't say, though there is more. Not a good situation for me as I would love to say more. There is not a lot of people in that squad that can hold their head up and be proud of how they have acted this season.}

26 Feb 2017 11:25:04
Are you allowed to say why the players wanted Ranieri gone? Was Ranieri demanding high standards and they just couldn't be arsed?

{Ed001's Note - he wanted more from them and they felt he was not up to the mark tactically. They wanted more input from him in that regard. It is what is known as 'passing the buck'. They were not trying or playing well, so, instead of accepting they are at fault, they looked to blame someone else.}

26 Feb 2017 12:08:30
So the players downed the tools, thought of some BS excuse about bad tactics, and passed the buck. Honestly, do you think any manager would have been able to motivate that lot?

{Ed001's Note - no, I don't think anyone could have made it work this season.}

Hi ed001 if you are around,

Appreciate that I'm replying to this quite a while after the article was posted, but thought it was a really interesting read. I just have a question on how did Alex Ferguson manage to win the league so many times? I'm not a fan of his (considering I'm a Liverpool fan) but there's no denying that he managed to win 13 titles (I think, not 100% sure on that) with United, which is more than what most clubs win in their entire history.

Cheers for your time and opinion

{Ed001's Note - number of reasons, amongst them more money than the opposition at a time when money was more important than ever, a youth system that was well developed for him to inherit. Good man management of his players, good coaches to work under him, an excellent scouting system to spend the money available. All of these being comparative to the rest of the English league. Basically he was very good at his job and backed with resources and talented help. Oh and he was always willing to move with the times and adapt, which was why he had such longevity.}

17 Feb 2017 18:32:19
Do you think he really had 'influence' over the refs as well? It's a popular conspiracy theory where I'm from that that is why he's won so much. Thought I might take this question to the United page but I think I might get slaughtered for asking this!

{Ed001's Note - to a degree the team did get favourable decisions, all big clubs do at home anyway, but he was very good at putting pressure on officials, which made them think twice about giving decisions against his team. You not only had to worry about the players in your face intimidating you as an official, you had Fergie cornering you and giving you the 'hairdryer' treatment too. All managers try and do it, he was just better at it than the rest, until Jose came along anyway.}

Ahh I see, thanks a lot Ed001 :)

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

Eds where do you think its going wrong for us?

I get city where bad on the weekend bu5 the sharpness of the players was what enabled us to take advantage.

Quick tounches from mahrez, slimani etc

Do you think medny and danny can do a kante and danny ?

{Ed001's Note - losing Kante was a huge blow, as Mendy is not the same player at all, he does not have the mobility or quality of Kante, though he is a very good player. Your whole style of play was very much based around Kante, so it has left a massive gaping hole in midfield, that the rest are just unable to plug yet.

However, the big issue really is the intensity has dropped in the league. The players are just not as up for the league as they were last season, they are so concentrated on the Champions League that they are struggling to lift themselves in the league.}

Still shocked gueye wasnt bought. Like mendy but why not both, we got that polish lad for 7 mil. Should of got mendy and gueye. Esecially with all the extra games, he was second only to kante last year

Do you think it was walshy holding him back or they thought mendy was better suited ?

Personally i feel walsh left because the transfer power was maybe switching more to rani. Not a shock that his first signing was gueye over at ton.

Hopefully ndidi comes back into the fold.

{Ed001's Note - Mendy was the one they wanted but couldn't sign that lead to the move for Kante. Mendy was first choice. If they had not got Mendy, then it would have been Gueye next, hence why Walsh went and got him at Everton.}
